
The creators are two highly prestigious Mallorcan architects with numerous restoration and renovation projects in Palma’s old town to their name, including the restoration of the administrative building of the Parliament of the Balearic Islands, that of the seat of the Official Lawyers’ Association of the Balearic Islands and the Rotger clinic. They took part in the programme for the renovation of the historic old town’s patios and are responsible for numerous private projects.
They won Palma City Council’s Restoration Prize for their work in the Sa Nostra Cultural Centre. And outside the city, Lluís and Jaume Garcia-Ruiz Guasp have intervened in numerous architectural projects on stately homes.
Lluís García-Ruiz Guasp
Born in Palma de Mallorca in 1946, he graduated from the Barcelona School of Architecture in 1970, with town planning as his specialist area. He opened his own architecture studio in Palma in 1971. He was the culture spokesperson for the C.O.A.B. (Official Architects’ Association of the Balearics) from 1971 to 1975, technical advisor to the town councils of Selva (1976-1980) and Sóller (1980-1991), and representative of the C.O.A.B. in the Provincial Town Planning Committee. He is a member of the Municipal Housing Board and belongs to the Council of the Pilar and Joan Miró Foundation in Palma de Mallorca.
His work is reflected in the book “Palma ciutat de patis” (Palma, city of patios), and he has participated in the assembly of diverse exhibitions in Sa Llotja. In 2002 he was named Academic Member for Architecture of the Saint Sebastian Royal Fine Arts Academy of Palma.
Jaume García-Ruiz Guasp
Born in Palma in 1948, he graduated from the Barcelona School of Architecture in 1972, with construction as his specialist area. He opened his studio in Palma in 1973. He was spokesperson for the C.O.A.B. from 1978 to 1981 and Municipal Architect for Alaró Town Council from 1978 to 1990.
